EADS SPACE - The driving force for Mars Exploration

EADS Space has major involvements in the Mars Express/Beagle 2 programme:

  • EADS Astrium is the prime contractor of the Mars Express orbiter
  • EADS Astrium in UK is also the industrial prime contractor of the UK’s Beagle2 probe
  • EADS SPACE Transportation France has provided the Beagle 2 probe heat shield
  • EADS SPACE Transportation Germany delivered the main engine and the 8 manoeuvring thrusters for the Mars Express spacecraft
  • Starsem, a joint French-Russian company in which EADS is the largest shareholder at 35% and Arianespace at 15% provided the Soyuz launcher
