Successful Flight 162: Ariane 516G : satellites INSAT-3E, e-BIRD and SMART-1

At 08:14 p.m. on Saturday, September 27th, 2003, Kourou time, (01:14 a.m. on Sunday, September 28th, Paris time), the launcher Ariane 5G, (G for " Generic ", the basic version of the launch vehicle), successfully launched the telecommunications satellites INSAT 3E (Indian Space Research Organisation), e-BIRD (Eutelsat's), and SMART-1, Europe's first space probe to the Moon, built by the Swedish Space Corporation for the European Space Agency ESA. Flight 162 was the 17th launch of an Ariane 5 launch vehicle and the 4th in this year.
