ESA has transferred all operation and exploitation activities of the European part of the International Space Station (ISS) to Astrium. As prime contractor, Astrium is leading a European consortium of some 40 companies from the ten European countries involved in the International Space Station.

The fourth Ariane 5 mission in 2008 has successfully launched the communications satellite BADR 6, designed and built by Astrium for the Saudi operator Arabsat.

Astrium is single prime contractor for the Ariane 5 system, responsible for delivery to Arianespace of a fully integrated and tested launch vehicle.
