REACH is a new European Union regulation (n° 1907/2006) concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals Substances which came into force on 1st June 2007. It establishes in Europe a new framework for the management of chemical substances in order to ensure a high level protection of the human health and of the environment.
This regulation targets chemical substances either on their own, or contained in preparations or in manufactured articles. Suppliers, as manufacturers, importers or users of substances, must take into account REACH to operate legally with the European Union.
In order for Suppliers and EADS to ensure full compliance of their products through their life cycle, REACH shall be properly managed across the supply chain. At first, it requires the mandatory Registration of specific chemical substances within the European Chemicals Agency.
