Dual-gridded reflectors

Dual-gridded, polarisation-sensitive antenna systems make frequency re-use possible using orthogonal polarisations. Dual-gridded reflectors up to 2.2m in diameter have been developed. They consist of two shells, mounted one behind the other. Their design is optimised for high thermal stability while ensuring the stiffness necessary for decoupling from the spacecraft platform during launch.

Astrium Space Transportation is the European pioneer of and leader in the dual-gridded reflectors concept. The well recognised reliability and performance of our products are based on full control of the complexity of grid precision manufacturing, assembly and calculation.

Since 1988, a total of 80 gridded dual-reflectors have been manufactured at the company's Les Mureaux site with similar basic architecture and design. A total of 51 have been launched, with 100% operating successfully in orbit.
