Open Center
The basic concept of OPEN CENTER is to provide:
- The software framework architecture designed for real time monitoring and control of any type of space and ground data.
- The common set of functions required by all Ground System facilities, supported by generic software components.
- Built-in parameterization capabilities to adapt the generic components to various configuration and operation contexts.
OPEN CENTER takes benefit from more than 30 years of Astrium experience in Ground Systems, gathered from:
- Satellites check-out systems (up to 80 delivered EGSE).
- Satellites Control Centres (about 12 delivered SCC).
- Simulators (23 Simulators and Software Validation Facilities for 17 different programs).
Based on this large experience, OPEN CENTER provides a standard system software solution to ground data systems for:
- All satellite platforms and applications (Earth Observation, Telecom, planetary missions, etc.).
- All types of orbit (GEO, LEO, constellations).
- All steps of the satellite life-cycle, from system development and testing to satellite operations.
Features / technical details
- High level and powerful operation tools (planning, procedures execution, etc.).
- Reduce technical risk, cost and schedule, by using proven solutions.
- Provide high quality, reliable, efficient and modular solutions, running same software on multiple platforms (Unix or Linux).
- Possible integration with existing operation facilities, plugging OPEN CENTER components within systems, or plugging commercial products into OPEN CENTER software framework.
- Harmonize operations for multiple and heterogeneous satellite platforms, providing seamless satellites fleet management.
- Provide system capabilities, internal know-how, high skilled and experienced teams in satellites operations and software, mastering all software products.
- Provide long term durability in terms of technical solutions, based on robust software architecture and standard COTS products.

Highly data configurable system
• Standard Data Base interface (ASCII-based format) makes Open Center independent from actual satellite data base format.
• Standard data types:
- Parameters: any type of acquired data (raw or different combinations of data can be defined).
- Open Center Data Set: logical set of parameters to be processed consistently.
- Commands: any type of predefined action that interfaces the external world.
• Project-specific equipment (TM/TC, payload front-ends, on-board bus protocols, etc.) can be interfaced via dedicated EIF (External Interface) components.
Powerful test and control operation
• Automation of operations, back-up management.
• Provide complex monitoring laws, possible alarm management.
• Support preparation and execution of Sequences (predefined automated programs, using ELISA structured language).
• Up to 50 sequences run in parallel (manual or automatic mode).
• Support to preparation and animation of Synoptic Displays, providing graphical representation of any parameter.
Complete post-processing toolset
• Support to raw (OCDS or events) or engineering data archive.
• Replay of archived data.
• Logbook and Sequence logs
