In Ottobrunn, southeast of Munich, Astrium manufactures space propulsion systems and satellite subsystems for telecommunications, navigation and earth observation. The company is a leader in the construction of solar generators and attitude control systems for satellites.The focus of Astrium Space Transportation in Ottobrunn is on launcher propulsion systems. Among other, the thrust chambers for the first and second stages of the Ariane 5 are built in Ottobrunn. In the framework of the industrial consortium Galileo Industries, Astrium takes responsibility for the construction of the satellites for the European radionavigation system Galileo. Moreover Astrium and Astrium Services in Ottobrunn are playing a lead role in the realization of SatcomBW, the satellite communications system for the German armed forces.

Access Plan: By Car

Take the direction towards Salzburg. On the motorway ring road "Autobahnring" A99, E45, E52 bypass Munich eastwards. Exit motorway A99 at the motorway crossing E54 and follow the motorway A8 back towards Munich for about 2 km. Leave the motorway A8 at the Ottobrunn exit and turn right towards Ottobrunn. Get immediately into the right-hand filter lane which brings you onto the Brunnthaler Strasse (B471). At the next traffic lights turn left. Follow the Ludwig-Bölkow-Allee for about 1,5 Km. Turn into the Robert-Koch-Strasse (second road on the right).

By Rail

From "Franz-Josef-Strauss" Airport Go to the S-Bahn (suburban line) station. If the flight ticket does not cover travel by suburban train, buy a day ticket for all zones (approx. 10 €) at the blue vending machines. Stamp ticket before you enter the train. Take S-Bahn S8 (suburban airport line) to Ostbahnhof Station ...

From Main Station At Munich Main Railway Station change to an S-Bahn (suburban line) on the lower level towards Ostbahnhof Station. Take S-Bahn S1-S8 (all lines). After five stations get off at the Ostbahnhof Station and walk towards the bus station ...

By Bus

From Ostbahnhof At the bus station, which is situated directly in front of the main entrance of the station "Ostbahnhof". Take the fast bus 213 to EADS/ Ottobrunn. At the last stop get off the bus and walk 50 m to the building 5.1, in which you find the visitors center .

In the building 5.1 you will find the visitors center. The reception will help you to get a batch and inform your contact person to pick you up.
