ST-1
A satellite system for Asian telecommunications

The ST-1 satellite and its payload, which were launched in 1998, were designed and built by Astrium to provide telecommunications and direct-to-home broadcast services to most of Asia. The contract included the satellite, two ground control stations in Singapore and Taiwan, and a comprehensive training and support package.

ST-1 provides up to 16 high-power Ku-band transponders for broadcast services over India, South East Asia and Taiwan, and 14 C-band transponders for coverage from Western India and Pakistan to Borneo, the Philippines and South Eastern China.

Based on Astrium’s successful Eurostar platform, the satellite, which has a lifetime of more than 13 years, continues to deliver high payload performance.
