Intelsat 10-02: large and powerful
Launched by a Proton rocket on 16 June 2004, the Astrium-built Intelsat 10-02 is the largest and most powerful satellite ever procured by Intelsat, the international telecommunications satellite operator.

From its 359° E orbit location, Intelsat 10-02 provides a full range of services in Ku and C-band, for premium landmass coverage of Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Additionally, Intelsat 10-02 provides coverage as far east as Asia (India) and as far west as South and North America. It features 70 C-band and 36 Ku-band transponders (measured in 36 MHz equivalent units), with a high level of cross-connectivity.

The spacecraft’s launch mass was 5,600kg, its solar array span is 45 metres and the spacecraft power at end of life is 11kW. The satellite will provide commercial services for a minimum of 13 years.

The satellite is based in the latest version of Astrium’s high-powered Eurostar series, Eurostar E3000. The E3000 platform features a high degree of modularity, which, due to its wide range of configurations, enables it to match mission requirements precisely and to offer operators a comprehensive range of power options.
