Second ‘little brother’ from Astrium

Anik F3 is the second Astrium’s Eurostar E3000 satellite ordered by Telesat. Launched in April 2007, Anik F3 provides a full range of satellite communications services, including telephony, business communications, Internet-based services and television transmission, over a large area covering North America from its orbital location of 118.7° W. It is equipped with 24 active transponders in C-band, 32 in Ku-band and two in Ka-band. The spacecraft weighed 4,600kg at launch, and has a design lifetime of 15 years.

Astrium was prime contractor for Anik F3, responsible for the design and build of both bus and payload. Canadian industry supplied a significant part of the spacecraft equipment and technology.
