12 metre Ariane rocket to premiere on the Champs-Elysées

Astrium, designer and builder of Ariane, will exhibit a 12 metre model of the rocket on the central roundabout of the Champs-Elysées – a premiere in Paris. From 4 to 12 October, 2008, space fans and visitors will get an idea of the magnitude of the real 55 metre rocket built in Les Mureaux, 30 km west of Paris., Visitors will be able to see, for the first time in France, a mock-up of a manned European space capsule from Astrium and experience simulated docking with the International Space Station. ...

From 4 to 12 October, 2008, space fans and visitors will get an idea of the magnitude of the real 55 metre rocket built in Les Mureaux, 30 km west of Paris. Visitors will be able to see, for the first time in France, a mock-up of a manned European space capsule from Astrium and experience simulated docking with the International Space Station.

A scale 1 mock-up of Moon Lander, the next robot to be sent to the Moon, will be on show at the exhibition organised by the French Aerospace Industry Association (GIFAS).

And a full-scale model of Astrium’s future space plane will be on display with animation to illustrate what tourists can expect to see from space.
