"Chury" ist zu dieser Zeit rund 675 Millionen Kilometer von der Sonne entfernt. November 2007 alarmierte das Minor Planets Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, die Öffentlichkeit über die Entdeckung eines Himmelsobjektes, das in wenigen Tagen die Erde in geringem Abstand passieren würde. Das Institut gab ihm die Katalogbezeichnung 2007VN84. Es stellte sich jedoch schnell heraus, dass es sich dabei nicht wie vermutet um einen Asteroiden handelte. Das Objekt 2007VN84 war nichts anderes als die Raumsonde Rosetta.
