Satellite weather forecasts do much more than tell us if we need to take an umbrella, an extra pullover or a pair of sunglasses we leave the house in the morning; monitoring atmospheric conditions that trigger severe weather phenomena such as tornadoes, flash floods, hailstorms or hurricanes, they contribute significantly to protecting human life. And if disaster does strike, satellite imagery and data are vital tools for catastrophe response and relief.
