Located at about fifteen kilometres from Bordeaux in the south-west of France, this centre is the historical birthplace of the French strategic nuclear force's ballistic systems. The skills acquired developing theses programs have made Aquitaine the specialist for integration of solid propellant stages, re-entry vehicles, design and manufacture of thermal protection systems, and high-performance wound filament structures, and the performance of complex testing, and engineering for ground installations.
