Ariane 5 ECA Flight 179 – mission successful

This launch showcases Astrium’s combined expertise across all sectors of the space business – space transportation, satellites and services.

Astrium Space Transportation is prime contractor for the Ariane 5 system, responsible for the delivery of fully integrated and tested launch vehicles to Arianespace.

Skynet 5B has been designed and built by Astrium Satellites for the UK MoD and will be operated by Astrium Services’ subsidiary Paradigm Secure Communications.

Flight 179 was a double launch, and also carried the Brazilian Star One C1 commercial communications satellite.
